Gallet Flying Officer Aviators Chronograph SOLD
Truly superb, near mint, unpolished, all original Gallet "Flying Officer" wrist chronograph with a highly sought after black dial, rotating 12-hour bezel, original crown and Landeron caliber 149 movement. Modeled after the "1st generation" Flying Officer made famous by gracing the wrist of former US president Harry S. Truman, this "3rd generation" example is near identical in design but updated with a larger case and completely black dial. This particular example is very special due to its superb, un-refinished case and near mint dial, hands and bezel. Its does show a few light scratches in places on the case from being gently worn at some point, but to find these watches in this good condition and unpolished is a true rarity. A truly spectactular example, masterfully crafted and designed from the famous house of Gallet, freshly serviced and ready to wear.
Style: Chronograph, Military
Case: Solid stainless steel case with rotating 12-hour bezel and screw down back, measuring 36.5mm in diameter excluding the original crown and pushers. Comes on a perfectly matched 18mm dark grey genuine Italian leather strap with stainless steel buckle.
Dial: Original factory printed matte black dial with yellow luminous numbers, outer world-time chapter and 1/5th seconds chronograph counter with constant seconds at 9:00 and a 30 minute counter at 3:00. Signed Gallet, Flying Officer T Swiss T. Near mint condition.

Extra Note: Looks to me from my internet research that this watch was also issued by the Swiss Air Force during its era of production. While this example does not bear the military issue markings, it is interested to note its more "official" use by true military aviators during its production run.
