Solvil Paul Ditisheim Sterling Silver/Neillo $900
Beautiful high grade Paul Ditisheim/Solvil pocket watch in rare sterling silver case with Niello decoration. Famous for extravagant case designs as well as being as one of the 20th centuries top watchmakers, Paul Ditisheim not only had a great sense of design, but also engineered and manufactured truly superb chronometer grade movements. He is especially famous for his work concerning the affect of atmospheric pressure and magnetic fields on timing, as well as inventing the affix balance. While he is not currently as famous as Patek and Vacheron, his work will surely one day gain the reputation it deserves in the eyes of the true collector. This pocket watch is an investment quality piece in all original superb condition, recently service and keeping great time.
Style: Art Nouveau, Art Deco Pocket Watch
Case: Stunning sterling silver open face style case with Neillo pinstripe decoration, thin profile in overall excellent condition. Measures 47mm in diameter and only 8mm thick! I would say about 90% of the Niello is still in place with is remarkable for a watch of this era. Both the outer and inner backs are stamped inside with the Paul Ditisheim logo, crescent moon hallmark and the 0.925 silver mark. One small dent should be noted on the inner movement cover, but otherwise very well taken care of and looking great.
Dial: Original factory printed dial with beautiful scrolled numbering, small seconds at 6:00 and all original blue steel hands. Signed Paul Ditisheim, Solvil. Some very slight patina can be seen under close inspection, but overall an excellent dial especially considering most metal dials by this maker did not survive very well.
Movement: Immaculate high grade Paul Ditisheim manual wind movement with beautiful bridge design, breguet overcoil hairspring and bright untarnished finish. Signed Paul Ditisheim, Solvil, 16 Jewels, 3 Adjustments. Recently service by our watchmaker and in excellent working condition.
Price: $900 USD
